B.A., Environmental Studies (focus on Environmental Policy), Middlebury College

Why did you select your current profession?

I am a lifelong environmentalist, I value service, and I enjoy finding common ground when multiple parties are engaged in complex issues.

When it comes to renewable energy or the environment, what is one thing that you wish you could help change?

I would like to help people see from a systems perspective and understand how any action can affect entire systems on a local and global scale. To me, that is what environmentalism and ecological thinking are about.

What is your favorite thing about Kleinschmidt?

I am encouraged to pursue my various interests, develop new skills, and be a lifelong learner.

What is your favorite pastime?

I am a writer. I enjoy writing about the relationship between humans, other species, and our environment. I attended the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference in 2016, and my current writing projects include several personal essays, a fantasy novel, and a book that began as my undergraduate thesis.

If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?

I would give a presentation on my undergraduate thesis, “Taking Down the Big Top: The Animal Rights Movement and the Rise and Fall of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.”
