Ron Threader, Ph.D.

Senior Scientist (Fisheries/Aquatic)

Ron Threader specializes in lake sturgeon and American eel biology. In his 24 years at Ontario Power Generation, he managed and conducted environmental programs associated with hydroelectric facilities, including biological research programs, biodiversity initiatives, monitoring of construction projects, environmental stewardship, and public education. Ron developed and implemented a Project Environmental Management process for construction projects and a protocol to comply with the Endangered Species Act, 2007. He was a team member of the Canadian Species at Risk recovery strategy for lake sturgeon in Canada (draft) chaired by Fisheries and Oceans Canada and of the Ontario Provincial Recovery Strategy for lake sturgeon in Ontario (draft) chaired by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. Ron was co-chair of the Eel Symposium at the 2014 American Fisheries Society Annual Conference in Quebec City, Quebec.
