The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) required a contractor to assist them in implementing the NEPA process (scoping, alternatives, cumulative effects, and effects analysis) in support of their federal icensing programs for non-federal hydroelectric facilities. FERC has three licensing processes that result in eveloping a NEPA document that assesses and discloses all effects of licensing or relicensing a hydroelectric project.
Kleinschmidt was selected as a subcontractor to FERC to prepare EAs, EISs and all NEPA documentation as art of FERC's licensing program of non-federal hydroelectric power projects. We prepared NEPA scoping documents and participated in NEPA scoping meetings, developed alternatives, and analyzed environmental, socioeconomic, developmental, and recreation analyses for NEPA documents.
Kleinschmidt ensured that the regulations implementing the NEPA process were met while assisting FERC on ore than 25 projects. The projects were completed on time and supported the decision making for the FERC, ncluding issuance or denial of project licenses.
