Biological Assessment

Fisheries Biological Assessments

As part of a Fish Passage Feasibility Study, senior biologists experienced with migratory fish biology, fish passage objectives, fisheries management, and federal or state regulations evaluate the fish passage parameters. These include review of the fishery management plans, fish passage target populations, time of year when fish passage is required, target date(s) by which fish passage is expected, and any terms and conditions pertaining to fish passage that are embedded in regulatory and supporting agreements. This review typically takes into account recent and ongoing fish passage decisions and actions taken by local state and federal regulatory agencies as well as licensees at neighboring hydroelectric or dam facilities facing similar requirements.
