Cultural Resource Studies and Assessments

Kleinschmidt Associates provides professional cultural resource management and historic preservation planning services to clients in both the public and private sectors. Federal regulations require agencies to incorporate historic properties into the planning phases of projects. Staff can assist clients in prudently managing the historic properties under their care in a way that balances the protection of valuable resources with cost-effective operation and management.

We have extensive experience in guiding clients through the Section 106 consultation process with state and federal agencies and federally-recognized Indian tribes. Our staff has managed numerous Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III cultural resource surveys and archaeological data recovery mitigation projects. Kleinschmidt Associates also has experience in historic preservation planning activities that fall outside federal compliance. We can assist developers and architectural firms in preparing tax credit applications for adaptive reuse projects, and our staff has experience in assisting cities and counties with the preparation of preservation plans through analysis of historic maps, architectural surveys, and identifying areas that merit local preservation zoning protection. We can provide thorough documentation for individual buildings and historic districts through intensive research and large-format photography.
