Jon Christensen has 39 years of hydropower-specific experience and specializes in conducting economic studies and managing the planning, permitting, and licensing processes required for water resource and hydroelectric projects. He excels in the management of complex and/or controversial planning projects, including collaborative decision processes, stakeholder consultation and negotiations on natural resource, planning, permitting and design issues. Jon developed numerous economic models to determine the feasibility or value of various projects or proposed upgrades and conducted or managed more than 30 detailed economic analyses of hydro and other energy projects. He chaired National Hydropower Association’s task force on FERC economics. He is well versed in issues associated with National Environmental Policy Act (EA/EIS preparation), National Historic Preservation Act, (SHPO consultation), Endangered Species Act (agency consultation and recovery plan development), Army Corps (individual development permits) and EPA regulations (NPDES, SPDES), and the Federal Power Act (including stakeholder consultation and compliance with fish passage)
