Blake Hamilton

Project Scientist

Blake Hamilton specializes in the development and management of scientific research that aims to address gaps in knowledge of essential information for the conservation and management of fisheries resources. He is experienced in various fish sampling techniques (screw, box, funnel, and fyke net trapping; gillnetting, longlining, trawling, boat and backpack electrofishing, snorkeling, spawning surveys), biological sample collection and processing (otolith aging, gut content analysis, stable isotope analysis), fish tracking technologies (PIT, passive and active acoustic telemetry), and data analyses (various Bayesian and frequentist modeling approaches; multi-state mark recapture, trophic mixing, generalized additive, and linear mixed models; space use estimation) for the production of reports and manuscripts for publication. He has worked in diverse environments with various fish species, including salmon in coastal Alaska, bull trout in the Washington Cascades, striped bass and sturgeon along the Mid-Atlantic coast, and sawfish and sharks in the Gulf and Florida Keys, among others.
