ā€œI’m truly grateful to be part of the Kleinschmidt team and to work alongside people who have a shared passion for hydropower and fisheries. I look forward to collaborating across disciplines to integrate science and engineering in support of effective fish passage solutions for our clients.ā€

Drew Stang is a fisheries engineer with seven years of experience supporting a wide range of fisheries and engineering projects primarily related to fish passage at hydroelectric facilities. He specializes in the design and performance assessment of fish passage facilities across the Pacific Northwest. Drew has experience using advanced monitoring techniques, including acoustic and radio telemetry, PIT tag arrays, and hydroacoustics, to quantify fish movement and behavior to inform fish passage design and operations. He also has experience characterizing hydraulic, underwater noise, and water quality conditions using tools such as ADCPs, ADVs, hydrophones, and water quality instrumentation. He works closely with biologists, engineers, and data scientists to support fish passage projects that meet client and regulatory requirements.

Drew has a M.Sc. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Davis, as well as a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Seattle Pacific University. He is a member of the American Fisheries Society (AFS) and has his Professional Engineer License in Washington State.
