Mike Hreben has 35 years of hydropower-specific experience and specializes in fisheries and water quality concerns related to hydroelectric facilities including fish passage and protection, fish entrainment, turbine mortality, fisheries abundance and diversity, habitat enhancement, research on American Eel and Lake Sturgeon, instream flow, and water quality monitoring and enhancement. He manages FERC relicensing efforts involving multiple studies directed at various environmental, engineering, and socio-economic issues. Mike designs and uses specialized collection systems for use in traditional sampling methods to monitor fish populations and collect specimens for analysis and conduct instream flow studies using IFIM technology. Mike served as Kleinschmidt’s Corporate Secretary for seven years and as Chairman of the Board for an additional five years. He currently serves as Kleinschmidt’s Technical Advisor for Water Quality and Fisheries studies.
Mike is a Certified Swiftwater Rescue Technician. He is an active member of the American Fisheries Society and the Wildlife Society and obtained a B.S in Biology from Pennsylvania State University.
