“I truly enjoy my work as a dam safety inspector as it affords me the opportunity to travel to many beautiful locations I wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to visit. From helicopter inspections in Newfoundland, Canada to irrigation reservoir inspections located between cinder cones on the Island of Hawaii, and everywhere in between, Kleinschmidt has provided work experiences I will never forget.”

Nick Ciomei has 15 years of hydropower-specific experience and specializes in dam safety/Part 12D inspections as a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved Independent Consultant, as well as facilitating emergency action plan functional and tabletop exercises, generating dam safety surveillance monitoring plans and reports, and standard technical information documents. He is experienced in completing Probable Maximum Flood inflow analyses, dam breach analyses, and creating dam inundation maps. He has completed condition inspections and stability analyses of concrete gravity, timber crib, rockfill dams, powerhouses, and steel and concrete penstocks.
