Nicholas Mills has 3 years of civil engineering experience, and he specializes in the structural analysis and design of hydroelectric project structures. He has inspected concrete reinforcement during installation to meet specifications and conducted stability analyses for concrete gravity structures such as dams and powerhouses. Nicholas has used software programs such as Revu Blue Beam to quantify the usage of concrete, rebar, formwork, and other construction materials. He is also experienced in programs such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, RISA 3D, CADAM 3D, SAP 2000, and KAStable. Since being at Kleinschmidt, he has performed hydroelectric inspections and evaluated/reported results based on instrumentation readings. He has been involved with the preliminary design of steel, concrete, masonry, and wooden structures. He continues to increase his involvement with dam safety work such as DSSMR’s, Part 12 Inspection documents, as well as PIPR’s and dam safety inspections for the state of Maine.
Nick graduated from the University of Maine in the spring of 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering and a concentration in structures.
