Hi, I’m Rowan Fay. I joined Kleinschmidt as an intern on the Hydraulics and Hydrology team in the summer of 2023 and will be coming on full-time as a staff engineer in 2025. I was drawn to Kleinschmidt because of the company’s commitment to sustainable energy and environmental projects throughout North America—and the chance to work alongside a team of experienced engineers passionate about water resources.
I earned three degrees from Oregon State University: a B.S. in Ecological Engineering, a B.S. in Sustainability, and a Master of Engineering in Ecological Engineering, with a focus on water resources. My academic background includes everything from open channel hydraulics and geomorphology to western water policy.
My journey into water resources started in high school through fisheries biology and has grown into a passion for using engineering to support aquatic ecosystems and manage water more effectively. During my time at Kleinschmidt and OSU, I’ve focused on hydraulic modeling, statistical hydrology, in-stream flow studies, and water rights adjudication. I’m excited to keep learning and contribute to innovative solutions in the H&H field.
