Kleinschmidt Associates Welcomes Jay Anders as Principal Consultant

Pittsfield, Maine — May 27, 2026 —Kleinschmidt Associates is pleased to announce that Jay Anders has joined the firm as a Principal Consultant. With more than 33 years of experience in electrical engineering, hydropower modernization, and project management, Anders brings extensive leadership and technical expertise to Kleinschmidt’s growing hydropower team.

Prior to joining Kleinschmidt, Jay held several leadership positions at the Tennessee Valley Authority, where he managed the Hydropower Electrical Engineering Department and served as project manager for an $80 million hydro plant automation program. He later joined Black & Veatch as Associate Vice President and Deputy Director of the Hydropower and Hydraulic Structures Department, overseeing a team responsible for more than $250 million in capital projects.

His experience includes pumped storage and conventional hydropower facilities, with expertise spanning powerhouse design, hydro feasibility and planning, due diligence evaluations, control system design, condition assessments, and minimum flow unit design. His background combines deep technical knowledge with extensive consulting and project leadership experience.

Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Columbia College, as well as both a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a registered professional engineer in Tennessee, a U.S. Navy veteran, and former Chair of the National Hydropower Association Board of Directors.

As Principal Consultant, he will support Kleinschmidt’s clients across North America with strategic guidance, technical leadership, and innovative solutions for hydropower and water resource projects.
